Rivercrest Parent Carer Forum

Volunteer roles

Parent rep, trustee, or a one-off consultation - real descriptions, no pressure.

Every role is done by parents and carers who have been through it themselves. You will be supported, you can stop any time, and expenses (travel, childcare) are covered.

Event helper

Set up, make the teas, welcome people, pack down. A couple of hours, once or twice a term. The easiest way to start.

Parent representative

Bring families’ experiences into meetings with the council, schools and health — SEND strategy group, the Local Offer, specific projects. Training and a buddy provided. Around half a day a month.

Peer support volunteer

Run or co-run a coffee morning or an afternoon tea, or be a friendly first point of contact for a family who has just found us. Ongoing, but flexible.

Trustee

Help steer the forum — finances, priorities, making sure we do what we say. Roughly six meetings a year plus a bit between. No prior board experience needed; we especially want trustees who reflect the families we serve.

One-off consultation

Sometimes the council or a service wants parent input on a single thing — a new form, a pathway, a policy. We circulate these; you take part in the ones that matter to you and ignore the rest.

Interested in any of these? Email hello@rivercrestpcf.org.uk and say roughly how much time you have — we will find something that fits.
